Barilla Launches Organic Pasta in Italy
Barilla Group, the world’s largest pasta producer, is launching organic pasta in Italy, after the positive performance registered in the United States and various European countries, where it was introduced last year. Barilla spaghetti and fusilli are now organic in Italy being made with 100% carefully selected durum wheat originating from organic crops. This product has been available since 2016 on supermarket shelves in various European countries and the United States where interest in organic food is constantly growing. The European organic pasta market is now worth €100 million.
In addition to being the world biggest pasta maker, Barilla is also the market leader for pasta sauces in continental Europe, bakery products in Italy and for crispbread in Scandinavia. The Italian family company operates 28 production sites all over the world.
