Leading global spirits group Beam recently celebrated the filling of its 12 millionth barrel of bourbon since the repeal of Prohibition in the US in 1933. The commemorative white oak barrel bearing the new company logo was filled and sealed at Beam’s flagship distillery in Clermont, where it will be aged until 2015.

“After more than 216 years, Beam continues to thrive as the number one Bourbon producer in the world,” says Frederick Booker Noe III, Jim Beam’s great-grandson and seventh generation Beam family distiller. “This milestone comes at a time when bourbon is growing faster than categories like vodka in the US, and reflects the popularity of our brands, innovations and the worldwide growth of America’s native spirit.”

Formerly known as Fortune Brands, Beam is the fourth largest premium spirits company in the world and the largest US-based spirits company. Its leading brands include Jim Beam bourbon, Maker’s Mark bourbon, Sauza tequila, Courvoisier cognac, Canadian Club whisky, Teacher’s Scotch, Laphroaig single-malt Scotch, Cruzan rum, Hornitos tequila, Knob Creek bourbon, Pucker flavored vodka, and Skinnygirl cocktails. The company’s annual sales were $2.7 billion in 2010 on volume of approximately 33 million 9-liter cases.
