Caffè Nero, the family-owned European coffee house group, has chosen Boston as its entry point into the United States. Caffè Nero will open its first store in downtown Boston, near Boston Common, in late April. Caffè Nero offers premium, espresso-based Italian coffee, blended and roasted in its roasting facility in South West London, and a warm and authentic European coffee house atmosphere.

Caffè Nero has a strong reputation for business success and product quality. Since its formation, it has had 67 of 68 quarters of positive like-for-like sales and EBITDA growth, a record virtually unrivalled by any UK retailer. In the last six years it has expanded into Europe, but by opening its first store inBoston, Caffè Nero will be moving for the first time into North America. This move also means Caffè Nero will be operating in five international territories, which includePoland,Cyprus,Turkeyand theMiddle East.  Caffè Nero currently has more than 550 coffee houses in the UK and 82 coffee houses internationally.

At the heart of Caffè Nero’s proposition is premium, award winning Italian coffee, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, deli-style food and great personal service. Caffè Nero has been a quiet but significant leader of the coffee culture revolution in the UK over the last 15 years and has helped to raise the bar on the coffee quality available to consumers through the introduction of premium hand-crafted artisan coffee across the country.

Gerry Ford, chairman and founder of Caffè Nero, says: “We look forward to introducing Caffè Nero toUScoffee-drinkers, and becoming part of the Boston community. America has for some time been a destination we have been interested in exploring and we feel now is the right time to slowly enter the market. I used to live in Boston and I love the place. It is such a beautiful, vibrant city, with a long tradition of being closely linked with Europe and we believe there is a good fit between the city and Caffè Nero.”
