Leading whey protein supplier, Carbery, is launching the latest innovation from its hydrolysed whey protein range, Optipep® 4bars. Designed specifically to deliver a soft texture throughout shelf-life, while enhancing the nutritional profile, the new ingredient is one of the market’s latest technical breakthroughs.

Combined with the flavour expertise of sister company Synergy, Carbery can help customers create diverse and exciting protein bars with the new ingredient, which appeal to a broad range of active consumers. In addition, the Optipep range provides fast absorption, enhanced digestibility and a neutral taste that makes it compatible with a wide variety of flavours.

Sarah O’Neill, Marketing Manager at Carbery, comments: “Carbery has developed a neutral tasting whey protein ingredient, which allows manufacturers to create a great tasting bar with excellent eating quality throughout shelf-life. Optipep 4bars is a high quality, whey protein – produced with milk from grass fed cows. Optipep prevents moisture being drawn from the other ingredients in the bar; allowing manufacturers to maintain softness and improve texture throughout shelf-life.”

According to a recent report from Persistence Market Research, the high-protein bar sector is predicted to be worth more than US$ 630 million by the end of 2022, with compound annual growth of 7.8 per cent between now and then. This rapid growth is predominantly being driven by the demand from consumers for filling and nutritious convenience foods that can be consumed on-the-go.
