COVERIS Rigid (Mansfield) UK has designed a new, completely recyclable, thin wall in-mould labelled packaging for dairy firm First Milk’s Lake District Dairy Cooking Sauces.

The packaging company has created in-mould labelling (IML) decoration for the new sauces, which will come in three flavours: tikka, garlic and herb, and tomato and basil. The sauces will be available at retail outlets in the UK by the end of August.

First Milk marketing director David Young said: “COVERIS was a pleasure to work with and the support throughout the product’s development ensured that our needs and deadlines were met.

“Achieving the best shelf appeal possible is crucial to retail sales and we are delighted with the outcome.”

COVERIS Rigid (Mansfield) UK managing director Tony Park said: “We started supplying First Milk about 12 months ago with thin wall in-mould labelled packaging for their dairy business.

“During this time, we have seen the Lake District Dairy Co. quark products go from strength to strength.

“Achieving the best shelf appeal possible is crucial to retail sales and we are delighted with the outcome.”

“This new product line is an exciting opportunity for both companies as we venture into the food sector, which is a firm part of our overall strategic direction for business growth and new market opportunities.”

Currently, COVERIS supplies IML containers for fresh cream, cottage cheese, crème fraîche and custard products in the UK dairy industry.

COVERIS, which was formed by the combination of Exopack, Britton Group, Kobusch, PACCOR and Paragon Print & Packaging, provides flexible and rigid plastic packaging, as well as coatings solutions.

The company has facilities in North America, Europe, the Middle East and China.
