Ebro Foods, the largest food group in Spain, the world leader in rice production and the second biggest global fresh and dry pasta manufacturer, is selling its Alimentation Santé organic food business to Midsona of Sweden for €57.5 million. Alimentation Santé and its subsidiaries generated net sales of €35 million in 2018. A pioneer in organic cereal processing, the business offers a wide range of organic vegetarian products and plant-based meat alternatives.

Midsona is one of the Nordic region’s leaders in organic foods, health foods and self-care. Midsona had sales of €271 million in 2018 and employs 525 people. Midsona has ambitions to become a major player in organic foods in Southern Europe.

Having analysed the strong investment needed to reach a relevant position in the bio food business, Ebro Foods has decided on the divestment. The disposal will allow Ebro Foods to continue to concentrate its resources in promoting its premium, fresh and convenience business. Ebro Foods has a presence in more than 80 countries in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa.
