English independent craft beer company, The Five Points Brewing Company, has smashed its crowdfunding target of £750,000 with a week to spare. The Five Points Brewing Co, located in the heart of Hackney, began its crowdfunding campaign on the 9th March 2018. Launched with the intention to treble the brewery’s production capacity, the campaign offered members of the general public a chance to become a Five Points Funder and receive shares in the business. Channeling the community spirit of the Five Points ethos, the funds successfully raised will be used to accelerate growth and bring everything back to the birthplace of the brewery – Hackney.

The co-founder and managing director of The Five Points Brewing Company, Ed Mason, champions the community of Hackney and wanted the crowdfunding campaign to welcome on board Five Points fans who are now literally invested in the success of the company. In addition to investors receiving shares in the company, the Five Points thanked its investors by offering exclusive rewards which included up to 25% discount in the Five Points taproom and online, free birthday pints.

Since the launch of the crowdfunding campaign over 1,250 investors have signed up to become a Five Points Funder and have done their part in helping Five Points achieve its target of £750,000. Now that The Five Points has reached its crowdfunding target, beer lovers can look forward to the opening of the first ever Five Points Taproom, launching at quintessential London venue, the Pembury Tavern. The Five Points Brewing Company will also be using the funds raised to invest in state-of-the-art brewhouse equipment and fermentation tanks which will help it achieve a production capacity 3 times what it is now, increasing sales from 2 million to 6 million pints a year.

The Five Points was the first UK brewery to become an accredited Living Wage employer and the funds raised will also be used to invest in the growing team. The news of the successful crowdfunding campaign comes just before the brewery celebrates its 5th birthday.
