BENEO invites industry visitors to Food Ingredients Europe (FiE) 2013 to view its extensive portfolio of functional ingredients designed to promote healthy eating at every stage of life.

It is never too early to begin thinking about a healthy diet. However, health and taste are inseparable, and consumers will only choose functional food and drink products if they like their taste and texture. With this in mind, BENEO, one of the leading manufacturers of functional ingredients, is using Food Ingredients Europe (FiE) 2013 to showcase how its nutrients can be incorporated into products that promote health through all life stages, while safeguarding and even optimising taste and texture. At FiE 2013, BENEO is showcasing the range of benefits associated with its prebiotic fibres, rice specialities and functional carbohydrates through a number of food and drink applications, which will be available for visitors to sample.  BENEO’s ingredients can contribute to healthy aging  in a wide variety of ways. From fibre-enriched products and tooth-friendly solutions that encourage a low blood glucose response, to reduced-calorie, clean label and digestive health foods and drinks, BENEO is able to offer producers new product concepts that support healthy aging throughout a lifetime.Macronutrient ingredients such as prebiotic fibres,  and low-glycaemic carbohydrates and hypoallergenic rice derivatives, have the potential to be part of the solution for healthy nutrition at every life stage.

”Macronutrient ingredients such as prebiotic fibres, and low-glycaemic carbohydrates and hypoallergenic rice derivatives, have the potential to be part of the solution for healthy nutrition at every life stage.”

Infants

Vegetable and fruit jars with BENEO’s baby food rice starch, a naturally sourced texturiser that meets and exceeds industry and regulatory requirements, and qualifies for hypoallergenic, clean-label, organic and non-GMO-products.

Children

Confectionery using BENEO’s Palatinose, the only tooth-friendly sugar that delivers the energy of sugar, but in a slower way, which is reflected in the lower rise in blood sugar after consumption.

Teens

This is the time when calcium stores need replenishing in order to help prevent osteoporosis later in life. However, it is often the case that the food choice in this age group does not reflect thisneed, thus presenting an opportunity to develop solutions such as sports or muesli bars − or even drinks with specific prebiotic fibres − that help to meet the need for extra calcium.

Seniors

Constipation is an important consideration for senior consumers. By increasing fibre intake, it is possible to fight constipation in a natural way while also having a positive effect on gut microflora.

Healthy blood sugar levels throughout life

BENEO’s nutrients, such as its prebiotic fibres, the novel sugar Palatinose and ISOMALT, are all low glycaemic and help maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

Calorie, sugar and fat reduction

BENEO’s ISOMALT, Nutriz and chicory dietary fibres offer opportunities in a wide range of applications, while at the same time maintaining taste and texture.Incorporating key nutrients into a balanced diet is being shown to delay or prevent the onset of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as obesity, diabetes, osteoporosis, gut-related disorders, cardiovascular diseases and dental health issues.   “Demographics do not lie; across the globe, our populations are getting older,” comments Jens Böhm, BENEO marketing manager. “We all want to stay healthywhile aging and want to enjoy a good quality of life as long as possible. This means that thinking about prevention at all life stages is as important as thinking about fighting a disease that is already there. “With this in mind, it is the food industry’s responsibility to offer balanced, convenient and palatable food and beverage solutions that help consumers maintain a healthy and active lifestyle at every age.”
