Irish food company Ribworld has officially opened its new manufacturing facility at Fethard in County Tipperary, which is part of a new €8 million investment programme by the company, with support from the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland. The new facility will result in the creation of 100 new jobs to bring employment levels at Ribworld to over 175 people over the next three years

Ribworld is part of the M&M Walshe food group, and is recognised as one of Europe’s leading sous vide specialists. Ribworld provides top quality cooked products including the company’s speciality which is ribs, to retailers, caterers and consumers in Ireland, UK and many international markets.

This strategic investment programme will position the company to invest in a major new product development drive and expand operational capacity, all aimed at meeting increasing demand for its products and expanding its market share across Europe and other international markets.

John Walshe, managing director of Ribworld, says: “We purchased Ribworld in 2011. Over the past three years we have grown the business by over 200% and launched a number of new products. It is now a truly international business, selling into such diverse markets as Finland and Thailand. This new facility will allow Ribworld to continue to expand into new markets and develop a new range of products.  It is a massive investment for us but we have every confidence that it will be a catalyst for a major expansion of our food group.”

Ribworld was established in 2004 and was purchased by M&M Walshe in 2011. M&M Walshe was established in 1981 by Michael and Maureen Walshe.
