New CEO and Managing Director For Tata Global Beverages

The board of Tata Global Beverages has promoted Ajoy Misra, presently the group’s deputy chief executive and executive director, to the position of chief executive and managing director, effective from 1st April 2014. He replaces. Harish Bhat, who will step down at close of business on 31st March 2014 and move into a senior advisory position in the Tata Group.

The appointment of Ajoy Misra as the managing director will be subject to all required statutory approvals and the approval of the members of the company.

Ajoy Misra has over 30 years of experience in the Tata group. Prior to joining Tata Global Beverages, he held several leadership roles in the Taj Group of Hotels. He holds an undergraduate degree in engineering from BITS Pilani ; and a Master’s degree in business from the Faculty of Management Studies,Universityof Delhi.

The Board of Directors has also decided that Harish Bhat will be appointed as a non-executive director on the board with effect from 1st April, 2014.

With a turnover of $1.4 billion, Tata Global Beverages is the second largest tea company in the world. The group has a portfolio of strong global and regional brands – with Tata Tea and Tetley the key drivers of its global presence.
