Leading Serbian food manufacturer Kompanija Takovo has repackaged its range of ready meals in multi-layer Royale bowls from RPC Bebo UK in order to meet the growing demand for quality convenience foods in the Serbian market. The new packs have replaced tin cans to provide a format that combines long ambient shelf life with maximum consumer convenience.

The meals are filled and retorted in the Royale bowls and the packs’ PP/EVOH/PP construction, with the EVOH layer providing an effective barrier against oxygen ingress, delivers an extended shelf life of up to 12 months. The bowls are microwaveable or can be pan heated. The attractive, robust and practical design allows the meal to be consumed directly from the container while handles either side provide ease of use during cooking and serving. Strong flanges ensure easy peelablity of the sealing film.

RPC Bebo was selected for the project thanks to its longstanding experience in retortable barrier packaging. The company worked closely with Kompanija Takovo during the development process to speed up the time to market.

“These new packs, which are a first in the Serbian market, underline our innovative approach and our ability to respond quickly to changing demands from both the supermarkets and the end consumer,” comments Miloje Simovic, executive sales manager of Kompanija Takovo. “The Royale bowls combine aesthetics and functionality to deliver a quality packaging solution that matches the quality of the products.”
