Preliminary report: International FoodTec Brasil 2014

The international food technology industry will meet for the first time from 05.08. to 07.08.2014 at the International FoodTec Brasil in Curitiba, Brazil. The International FoodTec Brasil provides the industry with an information and business platform which covers the entire spectrum of the machines and procedures the market has to offer for the manufacturing, processing and packing of foods. With 70 providers from 9 countries, the International FoodTec Brasil, right from the start, positions itself as the branch’s most important fair in Brazil outside of Sao Paulo. Focussing on the sectors of meat, poultry, fish and cheese, the event is directed at the most important purchasers in the region in southern Brazil.

The joint organisers of the International FoodTec Brasil are Koelnmesse GmbH and Hannover Fairs Sulamérica. Koelnmesse has acquired an excellent reputation as a competent fair organiser, in particular in the field of nutrition and food technology, with leading international trade fairs, such as the Anuga FoodTec, and is now inviting its exhibitors to Brazil. The International FoodTec Brasil is based on the initiative of leading national and international food technology providers and organised in close cooperation with the industry. This tailors the event perfectly to the needs and requirements of the companies involved.

Due to the convincing number of registrations, the International FoodTec Brasil covers 6,595 square meters at the Expo Unimed fair grounds with its modern and partly air conditioned halls. At the same time, the International FoodTec Brasil breaks away significantly from existing formats in Brazil with around 36% of international exhibitors.

Entire range of food technology represented The International FoodTec Brasil not only offers partial solutions, but also integrated and flexible technological concepts for all technology used in the processing at all levels of production, with a focus on meat and cheese produce. Areas on display include process technology, packing and packaging technology, automation, data processing, (closed-loop) control technology, food safety and quality management, equipment, environmental and biotechnology, refrigeration and air conditioning, materials handling, transport and storage, logistics, ingredients and services as well as components, modules, surface technology and accessories.

Renowned providers such as Bettcher, Cabinplant, CSB-System, Handtmann, Ishida, Marel, Middleby, Multivac, Polyclip, ULMA and VEMAG are some of the top companies represented. Moreover, Danish companies present their combined technological competence in a joint pavillion.

Full support from state and industry
The fair not only receives support from the companies, it also has considerable support from local Brazilian associations, such as the Brazilian Association of the Cold Storage Warehouse Industry (ABIAF), the Association of Brazilian Beef Exporters (ABIEC), the Brazilian Packaging Association (ABRE), the Brazilian Pork Industry and Exporter Association (ABIPECS), the Brazilian Enterprise for Agricultural Research (EMBRAPA) and the Brazilian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Curitiba. The state government of Paraná, where Curitiba is situated, is also involved. It is represented through the presence of Fomento Paraná, the state finance institution for development, ABIVIDRO, an association for automatic glass filling plants and Sindiavipar, an industry association for poultry products. Important international associations are also represented, such as IDFA, the International Diary Foods Association, PMMI, the US Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies and UCIMA, the Italian Association of Manufacturers of Automatic Packing and Packaging Machinery.

Supporting programme: getting ahead through exchange and dialogue In its supporting programme, the International FoodTec Brasil promotes exchange and dialogue between exhibitors, trade visitors as well as national and international experts from the food industry. A wide range of topics in the highly specialist seminar programme, in cooperation with the Instituto de Tecnología de Alimentos (ITAL – institute for food technology) and the Serviço Nationale de Aprendizagem Industrial (SENAI – national service for industrial training), discuss the perspectives, trends and developments up to 2020 for the meat and packing market and offers answers to specialist questions and problems.
