Premier Foods Seeks Investment For Bread Business
UK convenience foods group Premier Foods has confirmed, following recent press speculation, that it has appointed Ondra Partners to assist in developing investment options for its bread business. Of course, this includes co-investment by a partner. There can be no certainty that a transaction will follow at any point in the future, but Premier will provide updates as appropriate.
Premier’s bread division is the largest vertically integrated baker and flour miller in the UK. The bread business operates principally in the wrapped bread market although it also produces morning goods, a wide range of bulk and branded flours and a variety of own-label bread and other bakery products. The Charnwood pizza base operation is also part of this business. The division’s flagship brand, Hovis, is amongst the top 5 grocery brands in the UK. Other brands include Mother’s Pride and Granary.
