RIGGS AUTOPACK FILLS CALDER FOODS’ SANDWICH FILLERS NEEDS

A glowing reputation for accuracy and a long-standing relationship has secured another
order for Riggs Autopack Ltd, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of depositing and
filling machines.
Calder Foods Ltd are producers of a wide range of mayonnaise based sandwich fillings
and salads. Having previously purchased a number of Riggs Autopack Model 1000
depositing machines, the company has once more returned to Riggs to place orders for a
further depositor, two lid pressing units and two metering pumps. These are to be
integrated into existing production lines at the company’s premises in Cumbria.
The upgrade of the equipment has helped Calder Foods to meet growing demands,
increase productivity and improve efficiencies. Riggs Autopack has given the capability to
fast fill large particulates without damage, while effective handling of these products has
allowed Calder Foods to maintain high quality standards and minimise wastage.
Offering outstanding flexibility and accurate range and weight control, the Model 1000
depositor is ideal for Calder Foods due to its quick changeover times. It can easily deposit
into different size tubs during the same batch run from 70g and upwards to 10kg buckets by multi-cycling.
Meanwhile the metering pump has demonstrated its accuracy and versatility by
transferring mayonnaise from pallecon containers directly into product mixes. This process
used to be done manually and was time consuming and often led to waste.
The company’s Operations Manager Mr Chris McClelland commented: “I am very
impressed with how the machine operates; its responsiveness and adaptability are superb.
The equipment is easy to clean and downtime has been significantly reduced. We are
going from strength to strength and as a nationwide supplier it is paramount that the
equipment we use is accurate, easy to use and efficient. Riggs Autopack have never let us
down and we have built a fantastic relationship with them over the years”.
