Making its tenth appearance as an exhibitor at Vitafoods, Kaneka Pharma Europe invites visitors to discover first-hand its range of health ingredients. These include Kaneka QH™ Ubiquinol, the active form of coenzyme Q10 which is crucial to the body’s energy production and an extremely powerful antioxidant, and the Novel Food-approved liquorice root extract Glavonoid, which helps to reduce visceral fat. The company will also showcase Kaneka NAG™ – the biologically active form of glucosamine.

Renowned for its unique and patented production processes, Kaneka places great emphasis on the development of natural and scientifically-backed ingredients. After more than ten years of research and process development, the Japanese company succeeded in producing a bio-identical Ubiquinol using a special, patented technique. Ubiquinol can support the body’s immune defences, counteract fatigue, stress and the visible signs of aging, and help prevent cardiovascular diseases. Its high bioavailability enables the vitamin-like nutrient to be taken up by the body more quickly and efficiently than conventional coenzyme Q10. New application forms such as Ubiquinol P30 sticks and Ubiquinol chewing gum will be presented at the show.

Glavonoid™ is a natural plant extract obtained via an advanced patented process which ensures that the ingredient does not contain any glycyrrhizinic acid, a substance with “cortisone-like” side effects. Derived from liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.), Glavonoid™ is an oily extract containing 30 per cent glabra polyphenols. It has been proven to be completely safe, and studies have confirmed that an intake of 100 mg Glavonoid™ per day burns 130 kcal of body fat.

For joint health products, the company offers Kaneka NAG™ N-Acetylglucosamine – the bioactive form of glucosamine, which the body is able to use more efficiently and effectively than other forms. Thus, it can help to increase the amount of fluid in the joints and keeps cartilage flexible.

Kaneka explains: “In our opinion, the market potential for products containing functional ingredients such as Ubiquinol, Glavonoid™ and N-Acetylglucosamine is huge. Consumers are increasingly looking for safe and natural solutions that help them to maintain good health. In particular, weight management, flexible joints and heart health have become important issues for many people.”
