Moet Hennessy, the spirits and wine business of luxury goods group LVMH, increased net sales by 10% to Eur1.43b and profit from recurring operations by 27% to Eur413m for the first half of 2011. Moet Hennessy’s brands include Hennessy cognac, Moet & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot Champagnes and Glenmorangie Scotch whisky.

The drinks group reported rapid growth in its Champagne sales, particularly for the prestige cuvees such as Dom Perignon and Krug, which was reflected in the big jump in profits. Its cognac continued to perform well in Asia, while sales of Glenmorangie and Belvedere vodka were also strong.
