Teeling Whiskey, Ireland’s leading progressive Irish whiskey producer, collected the award for ‘Best Overall Irish Whiskey’ at the prestigious Irish Whiskey Awards. Teeling Whiskey Revival Volume IV, a 15-Year-Old Irish Single Malt, was honoured as the overall winner.

Teeling Whiskey Revival Vol IV was initially honoured with the category award for ‘best Irish Single Malt over 13 Years Old’ and subsequently emerged victorious to claim the overall prize of ‘Irish Whiskey of the Year’ for its unique quality. This is the fourth release in the multi award-winning Revival range of Teeling Whiskey and consists of 15-Year-Old Irish Single Malt which was finished in Muscat Port barrels.

The Irish Whiskey Awards launched in 2013 and since then, the event has gone on to be one of the biggest celebrations of Irish whiskey in the world. This year, the Awards were held in the Old Jameson Distillery and honoured the very best of Irish whiskey, which is continuing to blaze a trail on the international spirits market. Voting duties were carried out by members of the Celtic Whiskey Club, the Irish Whiskey Society and for the first time, the Cork Whiskey Society. All submitted entries were put through a series of blind tastings held over several sessions, the results of which determined the winner of each awards category, as well as the overall winner.

Jack Teeling, Founder and Managing Director of Teeling Whiskey, commented, “Over the last few years we have won over 115 International Awards but this is truly the greatest honour. To be judged by the most knowledgeable Irish whiskey connoisseurs in the world, and to be acknowledged for producing the best Irish whiskey in 2017, justifies the time and level of effort we put into crafting our whiskeys. Irish whiskey as an industry is evolving with new producers and a growing thirst by Irish whiskey drinkers to discover new expressions. In light of the increase in competition, picking up this award means even more.”

The Revival series was initially released to celebrate the opening of the Teeling Whiskey Distillery in Newmarket in 2015, and has continued to be released in bi-annual unique bottlings of 10,000 bottles. The fifth and final Revival will be released next year ahead of Teeling Whiskey’s own Single Pot Still distilled in Dublin coming of age.

The Teeling Whiskey Distillery was the first new distillery in Dublin for over 125 years and has taken in over 200,000 visitors since opening in June 2015. Teeling Whiskey is now exported to over 55 different export markets, won over 116 International Awards for its quality and is the fastest growing premium Irish whiskey in Ireland.
