Tesa, a global market leader in adhesive tapes, has introduced a new double-sided tape especially designed for reclosure on tape top doy packs. Tesa® 64621 PV6 joins the company’s existing range of double-sided resealable bag closure systems, providing the food industry with an additional means to control and protect food products against biological and physical factors.

Packaging represents an essential element in the preservation of food from the beginning of every distribution, through to the delivery, purchase, subsequent storage and final usage. Tesa offers a range of tapes that provide a safe, clean and easy solution in this application field, designed to deliver the best cost-performance ratio.

The strong and stable synthetic rubber adhesive provides many secure re-closes to the pack, it does not yellow and leave packs looking aged on shelf.

An extended fingerlift liner provides a clean, easy-to-use solution for consumers whilst still securely closing the food pack, its transparency allows instructions printed on the pack to be visible.

Tesa® 64621 PV6 red filmic liner allows an easy automatic application process. The long spool length allows rapid, continuous production via tesa’s dispenser which delivers the spool wound tape directly to the pack. Tape unwinds from spools in a controlled way with a brake and buffer system for maximum speed and efficiency. As part of the company’s comprehensive customer care package which provides a full end-to-end installation and commissioning service, the dispensers are provided free-of-charge, with the reassurance that they are installed in a single day, with no adverse effect on running speed.

In the food retail industry, convenient packaging solutions have been identified as a key factor in the consumer’s product selection process.  Peter Spencer, tesa’s Specialist Segment Manager, Manufacturing, says: “The issue of food waste is obviously not just confined to the UK; European Parliament has established its own targets and the EU Commission has set out a resource efficiency roadmap, which foresees a 50% reduction in food waste, to be achieved by 2025. tesa is playing its part in helping to deliver these targets.”
