Weetabix UK and Ireland Makes Two Senior Appointments

Weetabix Group has appointed marketing director, Sally Abbott as managing director of Weetabix Food Company, succeeding Giles Turrell. Francesca Davies, currently head of Category, succeeds Sally Abbott as marketing director of Weetabix Food Company UK and Ireland.

The appointments follow the completion of the £1.4 billion (US$1.7 million) acquisition of Weetabix Food Company by Post Holdings, a US-based consumer packaged goods holding company.

Sally Abbott joined the Weetabix Food Company in 2008 as group marketing director, leading some of the nation’s most popular cereal brands in the UK and through their global expansion. Over the past nine years, she has overseen some of the company’s most successful marketing campaigns, in turn supporting the 5% year on year growth achieved by the business. During her tenure as group marketing director the company’s UK market share rose to its highest ever at 16.9% and Weetabix, the number one cereal brand in the UK, with value sales exceeding £152 million for the first time in its 85 year history.

Francesca Davies joined Weetabix Food Company UK in 2008 as senior brand manager after rising rapidly through the ranks. In 2011, following notable key successes, Francesca Davies was promoted to head of Brand before taking on the role of group head of Category three years later.

As the newly appointed marketing director, Francesca Davies will sit on the executive leadership team of Weetabix Food Company, overseeing all marketing strategies, insight, innovation and customer care.
