Gavin Cartland (pictured far right), Head of Commercial and Category of Biotiful Dairy, spoke about the rise of the gut health trend at the recent National Food and Drink Business Conference and Exhibition, Ireland’s premier trade event for the food and drink processing, retail, food service and hospitality sectors which took place at CityWest, Dublin.

Gavin Cartland of Biotiful Dairy presented on the significant rise of the gut health trend in Europe, while adding value to dairy by meeting and leveraging key consumer needs which is at the heart of the Biotiful Dairy range. Discussing the gut health trend and the various benefits of consuming healthier dairy products, Gavin highlighted a recent study undertaken by Mintel Global Food and Drink, which presented the top benefits sought by European functional food and drink consumers which included 43% of those surveyed purchased to maintain/improve digestive health, while 37% of those surveyed purchased such products to maintain a healthy heart. Gavin also discussed the significant rise of the Kefir market in the UK (growth of over 120%), where Biotiful Dairy is market leader in the Kefir category.

Kefir is a fermented milk drink and is at the heart of all Biotiful products.
