Coca-Cola has topped Interbrand’s Best Global Brands league table for the twelfth consecutive year. Valued at $71.9 billion, a 2% increase on 2010, Coca-Cola finished above global brands such as IBM, Microsoft, Google and GE.

 

The next highest ranked food and drink industry brand was rival Pepsi, valued at $14.5 billion, a 4% rise on its 2010 valuation, in 22nd place. Budweiser ($12.3 billion) and Nescafe ($12.1 billion) were the third and fourth highest ranked food and beverage brands in the Top 100, in 29th and 30th positions respectively.

 

The top ranked food brands are Kellogg’s ($11.4 billion) and Heinz ($7.6 billion). A total of 15 food and drink brands featured in Interbrand’s Top 100 Best Global Brands listing for 2011.

 

Branding consultancy Interbrand rates the value of the brands according to three criteria:

* The financial performance of the branded products or services;

* The role of brand in the purchase decision process;

* The strength of the brand to continue to secure earnings for a company.
