Endoline Machinery have partnered with Sealed Air, the leading manufacturer of protective packaging systems and materials, to offer a Fully Automatic Void Filling System which will assist customers in making significant savings on shipping and handling costs – along with reducing packaging waste.

The new system consists of an Endoline 704 Fully Automatic Random Case Sealer and Sealed Air’s revolutionary Rapid Fill® – an automated inflation system.  Only recently launched by Bubble Wrap inventor Sealed Air the Rapid Fill® System gives customers the guarantee that the products within their sealed cases have maximum protection by minimising the movement. By joining forces with Endoline, the UK’s premium in end of line packaging, both companies can now offer a Fully Automatic Void Filling System which can run up to speeds of 10 cases per minute – double the capacity of most traditional void fill packaging methods.

The Fully Automatic Void Filling System requires little manual operating – the last item picked is the  Rapid Fill® bag, which is clipped into the corner of the case – before it moves along the conveyor to the Endoline 704 which will automatically fold the flaps and seal the case.  Here the Rapid Fill® works by briefly stopping the case while travelling through the case sealer and inflating the void-fill bag within the enclosed case by automatically injecting air into the void-fill bag.

Ideally suited to the E-commerce market, who often pack a variety of different goods, the Fully Automatic Void Filling System can deal with random case sizes.  While the Endoline 704 case sealer automatically adjusts itself to seal random case sizes – from small and large to lightweight and heavy cases – the RapidFill® system uses sensory technology to measure the exact amount of air needed to fill the void in the carton until it reaches its capacity to protect the contents within.

Andy Robinson, European Product Manager for Sealed Air, comments: “The Rapid Fill® semi-automated System was launched last year as we are continually looking for ways to save our customers money by minimising the time and personnel resources required during the packaging process, while increasing outputs and reducing damage. By adding the RapidFill System to the Endoline 704 Case Sealer the process is improved further because there isn’t the need for a person to push the box through to the inflator part, meeting the requirements for those customers looking for a fully automated system.

The Rapid Fill® System generates the lightest void-fill bags available on the market – up to 15% lighter than other materials allowing users to make significant savings on shipping and handling costs. The environmentally responsible aspects of the Rapid Fill® system include waste reduction, reusability and recyclability as bags can be deflated to less than 99% of their inflated volume.

Alan Yates, CEO of Endoline Machinery, commented: “We are delighted to partner up with Sealed Air and our engineers have worked closely with theirs to launch this revolutionary new system. As a result not only are we meeting the needs of several markets who require void filling but we are addressing the sustainability issue by reducing packaging waste – an issue which packaging companies are regularly faced with.”
