Peter Morehead (pictured), Production Director of Irish Distillers has been appointed Group Operations Director of Pernod Ricard. He will commence his new role in April 2015 and will be based at the company’s Global Headquarters in Paris.

Peter Morehead joined Irish Distillers as General Manager, Midleton Distillery in 1996, moving to Head of Bottling Operations in 2006. He was appointed Production Director for Irish Distillers in 2008. He has overseen a very significant expansion of the distillery in Midleton, including, most recently, the construction of a new distillery and warehousing in a €200 million investment programme.

“I am delighted to be given this opportunity and very much look forward to working across Pernod Ricard’s operations and brands on a global basis,” says Peter Morehead. “I have no doubt what I have learnt at Irish Distillers will be of great benefit in my new Group role. Of course I will have mixed feelings about leaving a great company, distillery and team of people, but my new role in Paris will enable me to be in regular contact with the operations in Ireland.”

Peter Morehead holds a degree in Dairy Science from UCC. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. In 2014, he became the founding Chairman of the Irish Whiskey Association.
