Yearsley Group, the UK’s largest cold storage and distribution company, has announced it has expanded its investment in Autostore. The company has selected a range of Autostore V6 warehouse control solutions in a major ASRS systems refurbishment for the company’s automated cold store at Hams Hall, Birmingham

Running a major automated cold store demands control systems that ensure the fast, accurate and flexible handling of goods in real-time, all the time.

Autostore is the UK’s leading warehouse management solution, developed by award-winning supply chain integration specialists Central Systems & Automation Ltd.

The contract with Yearsley Cold Storage & Distribution includes: Autostore Warehouse Control System (WCS), Autostore Crane Control System and Autostore Conveyor Control System.

Autostore will integrate with Yearsley’s enterprise business systems to maximise the efficiency of all material handling sub-systems in real-time and provide a uniform interface to – and control of – Yearsley’s automated crane and conveyor equipment.

Chris Herbert is Group Operations Manager at Yearsley Cold Storage & Distribution:

“Following the success of the implementation at our Grimsby hub in 2011, we are expanding our investment in Autostore at our Hams Hall site in the West Midlands. Rolling out Autostore will continue to reduce our risk while enhancing the process control and space optimisation that helps future-proof our business for efficiency, productivity and growth”.

Andrew McKaig is Commercial Director at Central Systems & Automation:

“We’re delighted to be building on our partnership with Yearsley Group. Automated warehouse refurbishment is a cost-effective and high-performance way of modernising and sweating warehouse and storage assets that optimises capital investment and liberates cash flow. Autostore sits at the heart of Yearsley’s ASRS operations and scales easily for throughput speed and storage volume”.

Established in 1955, Yearsley Group operates 13 sites across the UK from Glasgow to Gillingham, serviced by a fleet of over 300 vehicles delivering nationwide.

Yearsley Frozen Food Sales sells branded and own label frozen foods to wholesalers, retailers, caterers and institutions in all sectors, including export.

Yearsley Cold Storage and Distribution collects, stores, consolidates and delivers frozen foods throughout the supply chain.
