2 Sisters Food Group, which is Britain’s biggest food manufacturer, is ramping up production at its chicken processing facility in Flixton, as it continues to grow to meet the additional demand from its retail customers.2 Sisters has announced that its Suffolk site will create 100 jobs after the business completed its upgrade of the facility earlier this year ahead of its busy Christmas period.

The site has seen investment in new innovative technology and an upgrade of its effluent plant as part of a multi-million pound investment programme across 2 Sisters’ UK poultry business that was unveiled last year.

Allison Smith, general manager at the Flixton site, says: “The upgrade at Flixton will enable us to grow business and provide new career opportunities for people in the region. This is great news for the site and acknowledges the loyalty and capability of our fantastic colleagues that continue to go the extra mile each and every day to supply our customers with great quality, safe chicken.”

John Gibson, site human resources manager, adds: “We’ve very proud of what we do here at Flixton and excited by the prospect of expanding our family. Young people in particular often don’t see the food industry as their first choice for a career but we can offer a wide range of exciting job opportunities ranging from finance to engineering, from training to health and safety. We’ve learnt that identifying the right people first time allows their careers to grow and we have many people that started on the shop floor now running senior teams.”
