Makro Labelling have received an order from one of the UK’s leading food groups, to label their range of ready to eat dessert products.

The Mak 3 Tandem self-adhesive labeller will apply a self-adhesive label around the wall of a plastic yoghurt type pot at a speed of 250 c.p.m. The labeller is part of a new high-speed line and due to the line speed, Makro Labelling are supplying a tandem type self-adhesive labeller equipped with 2 labelling stations, these will enable the client to run at full speed without stoppages. This will be achieved when one self-adhesive label reel runs out, the second will immediately start up so no production time is lost. In the interim period a line operator will load the next label reel onto the first labelling station for continuous running.

Richard Portman, Managing Director of Makro Labelling UK said, “This is a significant order for us in the UK, to achieve the order we had to go through a number of tests with the client and also be able to demonstrate other similar installations on the continent. The client was very impressed with the seamless transfer from one label station to another with the machine running at line speed, coupled with the ease of cleaning fewer change parts required with the Mak 3. We have had a good relationship with the client offering service and spares for some time now, so they were fully aware of our aftersales capabilities here in the UK.”

The new Mak3 is due for installation in the Autumn, which will be a busy time for Makro as they have enjoyed a significant increase in sales during the past year, with over 80% of sales now being export.
