Glatt_Vitafoods_2016_300_dpiAt Vitafoods, Glatt showcased technologies for innovative particle design. The engineering expert researches and develops drying, agglomeration, granulation, encapsulation and coating processes for powders and liquids to protect ingredients or to provide them with specific functional properties. Glatt is one of the world’s leading suppliers of integrated plant solutions based on fluidized bed and spouted bed technology.

Visitors to the technology expert’s booth were able to delve into a virtual world: Augmented Reality presentations gave a unique insight into the process chambers of large-scale facilities, where liquids are spray granulated, powders are agglomerated and sensitive substances are encapsulated. Agglomeration is the only process that gives instant beverages such as cappuccino and tea outstanding solubility. Probiotics only remain stable enough to reach the digestive tract with homogenous encapsulation. Spray granulation turns enzymes into compact pellets that are dust-free and easy to dose. Alongside vivid animations of these technologies, various product samples were also made available.

Glatt’s core business is plant engineering, so its tailor-made ingredients are produced on state-of-the-art facilities. Glatt also offers contract manufacturing. At the company’s Vitafoods booth, the virtual tour explored the smallest facilities – laboratory units for feasibility studies – as well as pilot plants where process parameters are scaled up, up to large-scale facilities and turnkey production plants. This unique combination of technology competence and engineering professionality has turned Glatt into a global player as well as a valuable partner for research institutes.

As a solution provider, the engineering expert develops the most appropriate technological strategies for many different requirements: Glatt designs, plans and implements optimal plant layouts – start-up and service support included. When it comes to room design and hygiene concepts too, Glatt Ingenieurtechnik is among the market’s pioneers: the company works closely with the EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group) to support the development and implementation of new standards. This holistic approach brings safety on the one hand and commercially beneficial implementation on the other. Every company in Glatt’s customer portfolio benefits from this, whether they operate in the food, feed or fine chemistry industries.

Glatt Ingenieurtechnik engineers, designs and implements international projects, from the expansion or modernization of existing production sites to the construction of completely new plants. Projects focus on processes for the manufacturing of solid, semi-solid, liquid and sterile drug dosages as well as on the development, optimization and processing of bulk materials such as powder, granules and pellets for food, feed and fine chemicals.

Headquartered in Weimar, Germany, Glatt Ingenieurtechnik has branch offices in Wiesbaden, Dresden, Switzerland, Russia, India and the USA. Integrated within the global network of the Glatt group, the company benefits from the know-how of about 1500 specialists.
