The strong performances of recent acquisitions and rigorous cost management have allowed Emmi, the Swiss dairy group, to achieve solid results for 2012. Net sales rose by 9.6 % to SFr2.98 billion (Eur2.44 billion) in 2012. Adjusted for extraordinary income, earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) rose by 12.2 % to SFr146.3 million, while net profit increased by 8.8 % to SFr90.3 million, resulting in an adjusted EBIT margin of 4.9% (up from 4.8 % in the prior year) and an adjusted net profit margin of 3.0%, which remained flat..

Emmi expects group sales to grow and the net profit margin to remain unchanged in 2013.

“Emmi is still on track with its strategy. I am delighted that we achieved sustainable growth in 2012 and that our international sales were significantly above the SFr1 billion mark for the first time,” says Urs Riedener, chief executive of Emmi. “Together with the Swiss business, which continues to be the company’s mainstay, and the solid earnings, we will be able to continue investing in Emmi’s healthy growth in the future.”
