PepsiCo has received the 2014 Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award in the US, which recognizes companies for leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency programs. It is the ninth consecutive year that PepsiCo has received this distinction.

PepsiCo’s US operations achieved a four percent improvement in energy efficiency for 2013 as compared to 2012 by applying new technologies and processes to reduce energy consumption. These efforts also delivered nearly $12 million in cost savings for company.

“PepsiCo is committed to delivering Performance with Purpose, which is our recognition that business success is inextricably linked to society’s success,” says Rob Meyers, Director, Environmental Sustainability, PepsiCo. “Reducing our use of energy and natural resources drives lower operating costs while also having a positive impact on the environment. We’re proud to be an ENERGY STAR partner and will continue to prioritize energy efficiency across all aspects of our operations.”

“Innovative strategies in energy management are some of the most cost-effective ways to improve the bottom line in the places we work, shop, and play,” says EPA Deputy Administrator Bob Perciasepe. “PepsiCo’s leadership in energy management supports the well-being of American families while also fighting climate change.”

PepsiCo has been an ENERGY STAR partner since 2006.

ENERGY STAR was introduced by the US Environmental Protection Agency in 1992 as a voluntary market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through increased energy efficiency. Today, ENERGY STAR offers businesses and consumers energy-efficient solutions to save energy, money, and help protect the environment for future generations. 16,000 organizations are ENERGY STAR partners committed to improving the energy efficiency of products, homes, and buildings.
