Stevia sweetener variant is 20 times more potent

A sweetener made from a stevia leaf that contains 20 times more steviol glycosides than the standard leaf variety is now available from PureCircle. StarLeaf means products with more upfront sweetness can be made without any lingering bitterness, according to the company.
Part of a €100m investment, the StarLeaf stevia leaf will now be planted across thousands of hectares in 15 stevia plant growing regions throughout the world.
“We are proud to be the first in the industry to increase the supply of these steviol glycosides in this way,” says James Foxton, vice president of agricultural operations.
