Oakland International Ireland MD, Mark Caffrey.

Irish multi temperature supply chain, warehousing and logistics specialist, Oakland International, have announced their first full year trading figures and a growth rate of 13% for 2010 with an anticipated growth rate of between 40 to 45% for the coming year, based on predicted sales, and exceeding all expectations.

Returning sales to the end of 2010 of £1.3 million, staffing at the Co.

Meath depot has more than doubled, with additional local staff taken on board to support new business gains as the company drives ever forward.

Oakland International Ireland’s MD, Mark Caffrey, stated: “We anticipated a positive return on profits, but the first year of operation in any new business can be challenging so we are delighted with the performance of our business model in its first full year. We have a great team in Ireland who are really behind the business so this is a great result for them and for the local economy.

“Our core Ireland to Ireland retail distribution route operation remains strong, with Oakland’s Ireland to UK service growing and delivering associated cost benefits for customers as we drive through supply chain efficiencies between Ireland and the UK; trucks enjoy full loads on both outward and inbound journeys.”

Since the Co. Meath depot opened, investment in site buildings has been substantial with warehousing capacity tripled to 4000 pallets, with further expansion plans of an additional 20,000 sq ft currently under discussion.

Success continued when they were announced as finalists in three award categories at this year’s Ireland Logistics and Transport Awards, tremendous news for such a young Irish business.

Said Mark: “The development of strong relationships with retailers such as Dunnes, Musgraves and Superquinn, and by working closely with our Irish food producers and manufacturers, helping them to enter the retail market, has been key to our overall success.”
